Accident at Millenium Park?

We were driving eastbound on 64th Avenue this morning and noticed the edge of Cloverdale's Millenium Park, approximately across from Tim Hortons looks like a truck ran through it. Bushes, trees, and the split log rail fence are torn apart along the road. Its quite a mess and not particularly good news for whatever clean up crew the city will have to send in to get it looking better by Thursday for the Canada Day celebrations.

The real question is, was there an accident here or did somebody do this on purpose?

Another crazy driver in Cloverdale

Late this afternoon we had to drive over to the London Drugs in the Cloverdale Crossing Mall. On 64th Avenue there is a left hand turn lane that enters the mall inbetween Tim Hortons and a building that houses Telus, Great Clips, and a sushi restaurant. There is a median separating the entrance and exit traffic in and out of the mall.

I'm waiting in the left hand turn lane. There is a lot of oncoming traffic travelling west on 64th so I have to wait a bit. I get a couple of cars in line behind me also wanting to turn into the mall.

And then I notice a car trying to turn into the mall using the exit lane. That didn't go too good because there was already a car there, correctly attempting to exit out of the mall onto 64th Avenue. You'd think the driver would just straighten out the car and continue up a hundred feet to to the next entrance into the mall inbetween Tim Hortons and McDonald's. But I guess that would be too easy. Instead the female driver, an Asian woman about 40 years old, decides the appropriate thing is to back up onto 64th Avenue and make another try to get into the mall using that particular entrance. 3 times she backed up and went forward, effectively bringing to a stop all westbound traffic on 64th. By the time she finally got inside the mall I had 6 cars in line behind me trying to left turn.

And here's the funny thing. I get into the mall, park about halfway down the aisle from London Drugs and we spot her car. She is aimlessly driving around the mall.

Backing up onto a busy road is definitely a bad idea. Making several attempts is even worse. Its much better to continue on a few more feet and choose another entrance into the mall. But I guess she had her little heart set on driving in this particular driveway.

More Tim Hortons around South Surrey

There are a few more Tim Hortons within easy driving of Cloverdale. We have a lot of customers in the White Rock/South Surrey area and often stop at these restaurants.

There are 2 restaurants at Grandview Corners - 24th Avenue and 160th Street.

The first Tim Hortons is in the plaza close to 24th Avenue and 162 Street. Restaurant service only. They usually have 2 cashiers, sometimes 3 when its busy. This restaurant offers fast service and has a lot of tables for eat it customers.

The other Tim Hortons is on the other side of the street, inside Wal-Mart. Restaurant service only. There is usually one cashier and several other staff running back up getting the orders together quickly. Only a few tables for sit down customers. This is one of very few Tim Hortons that does not offer 24 hour service. They are only open when Wal-Mart is: 7am to 11pm.

There is a Tim Hortons in Southpoint shopping centre located on 152 Street and 32nd Avenue. It was built about 7 years ago, during the time when Wendy's and Tim Hortons still operated under the same parent company. The split happened shortly after that restaurant was built because with Tim Hortons selling chili and sandwiches they were competing too much with Wendy's menu. This restaurant is the only one in South Surrey with a drive thru. Generally both the drive thru and inside restaurant offer quick service. Line ups go down quickly no matter if you walk in or drive thru. Large table area to accomodate the customers for both restaurants, but may be hard to find a seat during lunch time.

The last Tim Hortons is almost in White Rock, located just outside Semiahmoo Mall on 152 Street and about 17th Avenue. Restaurant service only. There are only a few tables inside the restaurant, so coming during lunch or dinner rush may result in having to take out your food. Service is generally pretty quick here with 2 cashiers serving customers.
