Cocoa is a foster dog we're taking care of for Dogwood Rescue. She is 10 months old, spayed, up to date on shots, and appears to be a cross between an Irish setter and labrador retriever. She was surrendered to a shelter in Washington by a homeless person or family, I'm not sure which and I'm not sure if they were homeless when they got her or lost their home after they'd obtained her. She was scheduled to be euthanized but Dogwood Rescue was able to transport her up to BC for a second chance. She's a nice dog but has not had any training or discipline. She is eager to please and has learned to sit but she will need obedience lessons. She will probably make a good watch dog. She will bark if someone comes to the door or if she sees someone lurking outside. She is not an incessant barker. She is not destructive and can be left alone in the house unattended. She gets along with other dogs and loves to play. I will say she needs a home with no cats. She is very interested in squirrels and there is no doubt in my mind that she will chase a cat if one runs past her. She is energetic and would do really well with an active person or family and would make an excellent jogging buddy. Cocoa does have a couple of applications in for people interested in adopting her but as of December 21 she is still available. Please contact Dogwood Rescue through her Petfinder profile. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/21470667

Adopt a Vizsla Mix Dog
Lita is our foster dog from Dogwood Rescue. She is listed as a Vizsla Weimaraner mix but I'm not sure about the Weim part. She has some characteristics of a Vizsla, head and tail, but she is a black dog and I think she may be crossed with a whippet.
She came from either Utah or Idaho. Ended up at the dog shelter because her owners got divorced and neither could keep her. They had her since she was a puppy so perhaps that's how they knew her breding to be a Vizsla Weimaraner mix.
Lita is an adorable dog. Very friendly. Gets along with everyone. Loves to snuggle. She will get up on the bed or couch to snuggle with someone so a home where dogs are allowed on furniture is a must.
Lita will need to go to dog obedience classes. She knows to sit. But not stay. She is very good at recall and will come immediately when called. She walks well on a leash and is smart enough to get herself untangled.
Right now she is being fostered at our house in Cloverdale. However we are undergoing renovations and she will be transferred back to Dogwood Rescue's operator in West Vancouver later in July. Please see her profile on Petfinder for more information.

Adopt a Weimaraner
Dauma is 6 and a half years old. She is very affectionate. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. She likes to get up on couches and beds to snuggle with people. Dauma is perfect for someone who likes a snuggly dog on the furniture. She’s very playful and loves playing with squeaky toys.
She is housebroken, crate trained, knows how to use a doggy door, good with other dogs, and good around horses. I don’t have cats, so it is unknown how she is with them. She’s good riding in the car and has romped at off leash dog parks with no problems. She walks well on a splitter leash with my dog.
Her new owner should take her to obedience school for bonding and to refresh any prior training Dauma has had. Dauma needs to be watched if any food is left out on the counter or table. She walks around the kitchen with her nose up in the air cruising the counters and will steal someone’s dinner if she gets the chance.
Dauma does not like being alone, and would probably do best in a home where someone is home most of the time, or takes her with them in the car when they go out.
If anyone wants to meet Dauma, please contact Lichen at Dogwood Rescue 604-926-1842. Dauma is in Cloverdale and I can bring her to the off leash park at Clayton if anyone is interested in adopting her and wants to spend some time with her.
Here’s Dauma’s profile on Petfinder.
