Almost a year after the last time I saw a Wallace & Carey truck run a red light, they've done it again in the exact same spot.
Tonight about 8pm I was at a red light on 184th Street and 16th Avenue waiting to head home to Cloverdale. It was red for about 10 seconds after I rolled to a stop. I watched a truck to my left barreling it along 16th Avenue. Just as my light turns green the truck rolls through the red light and I'm amazed to see its Wallace & Carey again.
I don't know if its the same bad driver that ran the red light before but if its a different one then this driver follows the same rules of speeding down 16th Avenue in Hazelmere and running red lights.
Here's a new flash. If you go the posted speed limit - 60km - that would give you plenty of time to stop when the light turns yellow and then red.
It just boggles my mind that companies allow bad drivers to drive their company vehicles that are well plastered with their name and give them bad advertising.
I don't know if its the same company or not but there is a Wallace and Carey in Calgary that sells Western wear. I bought one of their shirts at the Bay when I was at the Calgary Stampede a few years ago.
Oh well. Nothing like putting a bad driver behind the wheel of your company truck to give your company a bad reputation of red light runners.

Father's Day Salmon BBQ in Hazelmere
I saw the sign out in front of the Semiahmoo Fish & Game Club on 184th Street advertising their Father's Day salmon BBQ.
Oddly enough I couldn't locate anything on their web page about it but the White Rock Visitor's Guide blog mentioned it. So if you're looking for something to do on Sunday afternoon keep this in mind.
They're a little south of Cloverdale in the Hazelmere area at 1284 184th Street.
Sunday June 19 2011 from 1pm to 5pm, drop in anytime. Cost says about $15. I haven't verified that. They usually get a good crowd and have lots of picnic fixings there.

Hot Air Balloon over Cloverdale tonight
I saw the first Remax hot air balloon hovering over Cloverdale tonight while driving home. Fortunately my Border Collie, Lacy, who was riding in the back seat did not spot it. She barks like crazy whenever a balloon is in the air, sometimes while I'm driving. Nothing like getting a bunch of woofs in the ear.
I've never been interested in going for a balloon ride though my husband has brought it up a couple of times over the years. After the tragic hot air balloon accident south of Cloverdale in Hazelmere three years ago you'll never get me in one of those balloons now. My husband actually was visiting a friend about half a mile away at the time the balloon caught on fire and saw some of the event unfolding in front of him. Needless to say he's never again brought up the subject of taking a flight in one of those balloons.

Wallace & Carey truck runs a red light
This didn't happen in Cloverdale, just a little south in Hazelmere.
Last night around 7:45pm I was travelling northbound on 184th Street and waiting at a red light on 16th Avenue. To my left I noticed a Wallace & Carey panel truck travelling along 16th Avenue heading east. My light turned green and I kept my eye on that truck that was still barrelling along 16th at well over the posted speed limit and decided to wait. No point in me being right and ending up dead. My light was green for a good 4 or 5 seconds by the time the Wallace & Carey truck ran the red light.
I just don't get it about some companies. Why do they hire bad drivers and then give them a company vehicle with the company name plastered all over it? Talk about bad advertising.
