The shops at Morgan Crossing (101-15765 Croydon Drive, Surrey) are hosting another free outdoor movie on Thursday night August 23, 2012. Monty Python and the Holy Grail will start at 8:15pm. This is a parking lot so bring a camp chair. Morgan Crossing is near the Home Depot and Walmart at 160th Street and 24th Avenue. Croydon Avenue is reached from 24th Avenue, the intersection where White Spot and The Brick is. I think the movies set up near Mink Chocolate and coffee shop, not too far from Thrifty Foods.

Free Outdoor Movie in South Surrey Thursday August 16, 2012
A free outdoor movie will be held at the Shops at Morgan Crossing on Thursday August 16, 2010. The movie playing is Men in Black 3 and will start around 8:30pm.
The Morgan Crossing shops are at 15765 Croydon Drive, Surrey. Not too far from Home Depot and Walmart at 160th Street and 24th Avenue. I'm not 100% sure where the movie is being shown but in the past it was near the Mink Chocolate coffee shop not too far from Thifty's. This is a parking lot so be sure to bring folding chairs. The weather is supposed to be incredibly hot over the next couple of days so this will be a perfect night to take in a free movie.

Free Outdoor Movie in South Surrey Thursday August 9, 2012
There will be a free outdoor movie at the shops in Morgan Crossing on Thursday August 9, 2012 at 15765 Croydon Drive, Surrey. The easiest way to get there is to get to 24th Avenue and head toward 160th Street. The next set of lights past 160th, about a block up is Croydon Avenue. On the opposite side of the street from Walmart.
Last year the movie was set up near Mink Chocolate and Coffee Shop but I'm not quite sure if its in the same spot again. Bring lawn chairs because this is a parking lot.
Playing at 8:45pm is The Hunger Games.

Cora's Restaurant South Surrey
I've had the opportunity to visit Cora's Restaurant on 24th Avenue a couple of times this month.
There are a few Cora's around and the restaurant began in Quebec, thus why the menus are in both English and French.
Cora's is known for huge sides of fruit that accompany some of the entrees. Cora's is open for breakfast and lunch only. Most of the items on the menu run $10 to $15.
I had the tuna melt sandwich with the side of fruit and that fruit was pretty much a meal in itself. Highly recommended if you're craving fresh fruit to accompany your meal or as a garnishment to pancakes, waffles, or crepes.
Cora's is located in the Peninsula Shopping Centre on 24th Avenue inbetween King George Boulevard and 152 Street. There is a Safeway and London Drugs in here plus many other smaller shops and restaurants.

Halloween Happenings around Cloverdale
Its coming up to my favorite time of the year - Halloween.
There's not too much in the way of haunted houses/tours in Cloverdale but there's a couple of options just outside town. I checked some of my old sources, a couple of them don't specifically say 2010, so I'll direct you to the websites and if you're interested, please contact them for more information.
Barnyard Phantoms in the Haunted Barn located at 3048 - 192 Street. Says its open nightly but doesn't say what day in October its really open or if its a neglected website from years gone by. There is an email address for more info. Click here for their website.
Potter's House of Horrors is located at 12530 - 72nd Avenue and they do say they're on for 2010 starting October 15 until the 31st. Click here for their website.
The Scream Train at Bear Creek Park does show its on for 2010. 13750 - 88th Avenue. Near the King George Highway. The train is kind of located in the middle of the park. Check their website here.
On a tamer note I've seen a bunch of dried corn plants set up around the parking lot of the Cloverdale Country Farms produce store on the corner of 168th Street and Highway 10. I checked their website and they have a pumpkin patch corn maze going on until Halloween. Click here for more information.
I've seen the signs up for the Hazelmere Pumpkin patch located at 18507 - 20th Avenue and they're open weekends 10am to 5pm. A tractor pulling a trailer takes you down to the pumpkin patch to choose your pumpkin.
Also I've seen signs for Capella's Farm on 160th Street, just off Highway 10. First farm on your left after you cross the train tracks and Colebrook Road. They're advertising pumpins, hayride, and I think a haunted house. I'm not sure on the last one. I've only spotted the sign that recently went up a couple of times while driving past.

Free outdoor movie August 22 at Morgan Crossing
On Sunday August 22 a free outdoor movie is coming to South Surrey at Morgan Crossing - 15765 Croydon Drive.
9pm - ET
Movie ends at 10:30pm. Bring a lawn chair and probably a sweater or jacket because it'll be cold. Maybe a rain coat and umbrella in case it rains. But you'd have to be a diehard ET fan to attend in the rain! No seriously, I'm pretty sure Fresh Air Cinemas cancels in bad weather.

Marble Slab Creamery
A couple of days ago while driving home from Langley I spotted a van on 64th Avenue with Marble Slab Creamery on it advertising their ice cream. We wondered where they were. Wonder no more because in today's mail we got a coupon for their location which is in the new shopping plaza behind Wal-Mart on 24th Avenue and 160th Street. Almost across the parking lot from the Future Shop.
The coupons promoted were buy an ice cream cone and get the second one free. $3 off an ice cream cake. And buy a quart of ice cream at regular price and get the second one for half price.
We were in the area and went in to give it a try seeing as how its a nice sunny day. First thing is 4 people in line in front of us and only one clerk serving customers, so we waited several minutes to be served. I did see another women peeking out from the back room a couple of times. She finally came out to assist just as we were paying and getting ready to leave. By this time several customers were behind us, everyone taking advantage of the BOGO coupon on a nice day.
First off its kind of hard to figure this place out. They have a menu and they have prices but its difficult to figure out exactly how much an ice cream cone is. Basically you choose one of their concoctions which is ice cream mixed with other stuff like walnuts, strawberries, chocolate chips, marshmallows. Must be over 50 ingredients to be mixed in with the ice cream. The clerk scoops up ice cream, puts it on a scale to weigh it, and then returns to the marble slab to mix in the fixings, and puts it in a waffle cone. By now the ice cream is getting kind of soft and melting. I chose a Snickerdoodle - vanilla ice cream with Snickers and caramel. Kerry chose strawberries and cream. When all was said and done at the cash register the total was $6.77. And that's with a BOGO! Wowsers! $6.77 for 2 ice creams, I can see it, but to come in without a coupon and spend that much each on one ice cream cone - no way. The ice cream really isn't that great anyway.
About an hour later Kerry had a stomach ache.
The ice cream cakes were nearly $30 each. The quart of ice cream was $8.95. To buy 2 with the coupon would be nearly $14, comparable to buying Haagen Daz ice cream.
Bad idea to come here if you have nut allergies. The ingredients are mixed on a marble slab that is scraped down inbetween cones, but to my eye it would be plausible that some leftover ingredients from a previous ice cream order may still linger on the marble slab.
So, I'd say if you have a coupon for a BOGO head on in and try it. Otherwise skip this creamery. There are better ice cream places around.
