Donairs in Cloverdale Update

I walked past King Tut's Donairs today - 176th Street near 56A Ave - and there is a "grand opening" sign out front and a bunch of balloons on the sign.

I peeked inside the window and I could see staff members behind the kitchen area but no customers inside. It was early though, before noon. They have 3 different combos you can buy for donairs and pop, running about $8 to $11.

I walked past Shannon's Donairs on 57th Ave a couple of stores down from 176th Street and they still are promising to open soon. Perhaps they're having trouble with permits or inspections. Oddly enough all their fridges and appliances have been pulled away from the wall and are in the centre of the restaurant.

  1. I work in Cloverdale and have been to King Tut's.

    What I like about it:
    1. Good price point - donairs start at $5.00! Not too shabby!
    2. Friendly owner - Jazz is a cool guy who is trying to make it in Cloverdale (which isn't easy)
    3. Good food - his seasoning of the meat is good, and the salad he puts in is pretty good

    Give it a chance!

Also, I too am interested to see when Shannon Donair opens. They both started setting up their Donair restaurants in the same week!

    That is all

  2. Thanks for the update Ryan!

The prices do look very reasonable and I'm glad to hear the food is good. Hopefully Jazz will do well in Cloverdale. I'm a vegetarian and as far as I could tell there were no meatless donairs on the menu. I'm sure my husband will be around to try them though!

  3. yes, in fact there is a vegetarian donair. it is made with falafel (chickpeas)and you have your choice of any veggies or sauces! they also have wonderful plates that I'm sure they would be willing to customize for vegetarian customers.
