Pancake Breakfasts around Cloverdale on Rodeo Weekend May 17 to 20, 2013

I've managed to track down some pancake breakfasts that will be happening around Cloverdale, mostly before the parade starts on Saturday May 18.

Cloverdale Legion is serving up a pancake breakfast every day May 17 to 20th between 8am and 11:30am. Cost is $4.50 and includes pancakes, eggs, sausages, coffee, tea, and orange juice/drink. The legion is located at 17567 - 57th Avenue, across the street from the firehall.

The Lions are serving a pancake breakfast before the parade in Hawthorne Square on the west side of 176th Street, halfway between 57th and 58th Avenues from 8am to 11am on Saturday May 18. I'm not sure of the cost and other extra food being served, but last year it was $5.

So far I haven't been able to find out if the Cloverdale Canadian Reformed Church on 60th Avenue is having its popular pancake breakfast on Saturday morning before the parade. Usually someone stops by my blog and gives me a heads up but not yet. I'll update when I find out.

The Cloverdale United Church on the corner of 58th Avenue and the Cloverdale Bypass is having a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning before the parade, 8am to 10am. $5 for pancakes, sausages, coffee, tea, and juice.

**Updated** There is a sign outside the Cloverdale Canadian Reformed Church, 17473 - 60th Ave., that they'll be holding a free pancake breakfast on Saturday May 16 between 8am and 10am. In addition to pancakes they also serve sausages, eggs, coffee, tea, and juice.

More events happening in Cloverdale May 2010 long weekend

I've just returned from a 3 week vacation and I have a few more additions to my previous post about what's happening around Cloverdale this May 2010.

To start off I still have been unable to find a map of the Cloverdale Rodeo Parade route, so I'm sticking with what I said before and hoping its staying to the same route. To be safe, find a spot on 176th Street between 58th and 57th Avenues. I'm pretty sure the parade is starting somewhere around 56A Avenue and 177B Street - the staging area. Parade proceeds south along 177B Street while everyone gets in line to Highway 10. Which means that the west bound lanes of traffic are closed and all traffic is diverted to the eastbound lane. Then its a couple of blocks west to 176th Street, north until 58A Avenue, then north again on 176A Street where the parade peters out by the time it reaches 60th Avenue and the fairgrounds.

Friday, May 21 - 4:30pm to 6pm its the Chili Cook off at the Clover Square Village on the south side of Highway 10 and 177B Street. Chili is free for the testing and voting. Sometimes free comes with a price and you have to listen to the chef's political agenda.

Saturday, May 22 - 8am to 10am is a rodeo pancake breakfast in Hawthorne Square on 176th Street across from the Clova Theatre. This is put on by the Cloverale Lions. Live music with Cloverdale's own Trailer Park Playboys.

Saturday, May 22 - 8:30am to 10am is another rodeo pancake breakfast, and this one is my personal favorite because its free. Its held at the Cloverdale Canadian Reformed Church at 17473 60th Avenue.

Saturday, May 22 - 1:30pm the Clova Theatre is hosting a vaudeville act Susie Francis and the Versatiles. Tickets are $5. This will be repeated on Sunday May 23 and Monday May 24, same time, same place, same act.

There are all kinds of activities happening in Cloverdale in conjunction with the rodeo. For more information see their web page. Apparently the free trolley rides will be running around Cloverdale all weekend. Unfortunately I can't locate their route, but a safe bet would be the stops are at Clover Square Village, Hawthorne Square, and the fairgrounds.

No matter what you have planned, I hope you have a happy and safe long weekend.

Cloverdale Rodeo Pancake Breakfasts May 16 2009

On the morning of the Cloverdale Rodeo Parade there are several pancake breakfasts held around town on Saturday May 16, 2009.

Probably the most popular will be the one put on by the Cloverdale Lions in Hawthorne Square on 176th Street, across from the Dale Building and the Clova Cinema, partly between 58th and 57th Avenues. This will be from 8am till 10am, approximately when the parade starts. A local band, the Trailerpark Playboys will be providing musical entertainment and an Elvis impersonator is also scheduled to make an appearance. Now keep in mind this is the May long weekend and it always rains. Or at least it has for 11 of the past 15 years if memory serves me correctly. The Lions pancake breakfast is held outside. Depending on the weather it might be a flop. Cost is unknown but I can't imagine it will be more than $5.

For an indoor pancake breakfast, the Cloverdale Legion is nearby on 57th Avenue, across from the firehall and serve breakfast from 6:30am till about 11:30am. In fact they'll be serving pancakes each day of the long weekend. We often go there for their monthly pancake breakfasts. For $4 ($3 for kids) they serve pancakes, eggs, sausages, coffee, and orange drink. You can go back for seconds if you're still hungry.

The Cloverdale United Church also has a pancake breakfast starting at 8am. They're located on the corner of the Cloverdale Bypass and 58th Avenue, but you'll have to drive around to their entrance on 58A Avenue to park. Free parking for the parade and rodeo if you come in for pancakes. Cost unknown for 2009 but in 2008 it was $2.

The Cloverdale Canadian Reformed Church on 60th Avenue is also holding a pancake breakfast. Cost unknown, but in 2008 it was free! That was the deciding factor where we ate pancakes last year. In addition to pancakes they served sausages and coffee and juice. I don't recall if there was fried eggs here. They also offered free parking for parade and rodeo goers who came in for breakfast. They're located at 17473 60th Avenue.
